Gabriel McClease Adkins, Sr.

President

Mr. Gabriel Adkins Sr., a life long native of Elizabeth City, NC is the Founder and President of Adkins Memorial Funeral Home. He is the son of Barry Gillard and Gail Adkins Whitehurst and is the proud father of Jae’lah, Gabrielle, Ayden, Gavin and Gabriel Jr. 

He is a 2005 graduate of Northeastern High School and is currently furthering his education at Strayer University. He is a partner of The Mount Chesapeake where Bishop K.W. Brown is the presiding prelate. Gabriel is also the founder and owner of Adkins Catering and Adkins Income Tax & Financial Services here in Elizabeth City. He currently serves as the 2nd Ward City Councilman for the City of Elizabeth City. He also is a planning member of the Economic Development & Fireman’s Relief Board for Elizabeth City. 

Gabriel has worked in the funeral industry for over 15 years assisting families as they journey through their darkest hours of loosing a loved one. It is with great honor and commitment that he serves each family with excellence. Gabriel promises to celebrate life, one family at a time.

Mrs. Rosalyn P. Coston a resident of Elizabeth City, North Carolina is the owner and operator of Designer’s Touch Beauty Salon. She is a well known entrepreneur in her community where she is always willing to help others. God has allowed her to become successful in her profession for 38 years. She is a member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church of Elizabeth City where she serves on the board of trustees. In 1997 she took her professional skills and decided to join the funeral home industry as a part time funeral assistant to the families in their time of need.

Merzell Smith

Mrs. Merzell Ferebee Smith a native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She is the Associate Pastor of Touch of Refuge located in Camden, North Carolina. Merzell is also the CEO of New Creations where she specializes in wedding planning and decorations. Merzell has worked in the funeral industry for over 40 years. She is dedicated to assisting families in their time of need with the upmost respect and dignity.
