Waverly G. Hawkins, age 64, was born on August 4, 1961, in Portsmouth, Virginia. He peacefully departed this life on June 20, 2026.
His life will be remembered on Saturday, June 27, 2026 beginning at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Adkins Memorial Funeral Home with Elder Quinten Hill, officiating.
Waverly attended Churchland High School and spent his life connecting with family and friends through his warm spirit and unique personality. He found joy in cooking, listening to music, and spending time with those he loved even though he also enjoyed his quiet space. Though he faced many challenges throughout his life, Waverly maintained his faith in God and found comfort and guidance in reading his Bible and listening to his Gospel Music; Cece Winans was amongst one of his Favorites.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Clara Elizabeth Hawkins; his father, Crawley Hawkins; his sister, Shirley Elam; and his brother, Wayne Crumwell.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Lakiah Artis-Cherry; his granddaughter, Khaliyah Fulford; and his grandson, Nigel Jones. He is also survived by his sisters, Joyce Hawkins White (Tyrone) and Wanda Hawkins Williams (Raymond); and his brothers, Steve Jones (Sharon), Larry Jones (Stacy), Alex Hawkins (Tammie), Alvin Hawkins, Kevin Hawkins, Lynn Hawkins, Donald Hawkins, and baby brother Richard Hawkins(Courtney), along with a large extended family.
Waverly was dearly loved by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends whose lives were touched by his presence. He will be remembered for his love of family, his faith, his enjoyment of music, and the meals he lovingly prepared for others.
Though he is no longer with us in body, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
