Robert Sivels Obituary

In Loving Memory of Robert Garson Sivels

With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Garson Sivels, a beloved son, devoted father, cherished brother, and talented chef. Robert peacefully departed on January 6, 2024, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and culinary delights. He was born on September 19, 1972, in Providence, RI, to his grieving parents, Bishop William and Reverend Karen Sivels.

Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard D. Augustus Sr. and Beatrice M. Augustus, and William and Missouri "Esther" Sivels, who significantly shaped the man he became. A graduate of Central High, Robert's journey took a patriotic turn as he joined the military, where he met and married his loving wife, Aimee. Their union brought forth the greatest joys of his life: their two beautiful daughters, Kayla Faye and Destiney Hope.

During his time in the Navy, Robert worked diligently as a helicopter mechanic, earning an honorable discharge after nearly four years of dedicated service. Because of life's trials, the bond between Robert and Aimee was challenged. Even after a break in cohabitation, his commitment to Kayla and Destiney remained the focal point of Robert's devotion and love.

In search of his true calling, Robert explored various occupations before discovering his passion for the culinary arts. Pursuing his dreams, he enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu in Georgiaand graduated with a culinary arts degree. Robert's culinary talent did not go unnoticed, and he found himself working for the prestigious Mill Restaurant Group as a Sous Chef under the mentorship of Executive Chef Steven Wolf. As fate would have it, Chef Wolf eventually embarked on his own culinary venture, and he brought Robert along for the exciting journey.

Beyond his professional success, Robert's legacy is most profoundly felt in the love and warmth he showered upon his family. His children, Kayla and Destiney, were the heartbeat of his existence, and his enduring love for them will be a cherished memory.

Known for his infectious sense of humor and passion for culinary creativity, Robert loved spending time with friends and family. His Jamaican Jerk burger became a beloved creation, a testament to his culinary prowess that everyone who enjoyed tasting it will remember.

Robert leaves behind his estranged wife, Aimee Augustus of AL, and their cherished daughters, Kayla Faye Augustus of FL and Destiney Hope Augustus of AL. He is also survived by his parents, Bishop William Sivels Jr. Reverend Karen of VA, sister Dana Alyse Belle (Charles) of VA, brothers William Dennis Sivels (Michelle) of RI and Jason Sivels of VA, as well as adopted sisters Doris and Esther Sivels of Liberia. His extended family includes his stepsisters Dorchinia and Dominique Gaines of RI, his long-time special friend Tamika Jordan of CT, his present partner Katina Ballard of VA, two God sons, Bryan and Charles Bell Jr., and a host of family and friends.

A private memorial service will be held to celebrate Robert's life. Flowers and cards of condolence may be sent to Adkins Memorial Funeral Home.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory comfort those who loved him.
