Lillie Riddick Obituary

“On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame.  And I love that old cross where the dearest and best, for a world of lost sinners was slain.  So, I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down.  I will cling to the old rugged cross and exchange it some day for a CROWN”.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Lillie Pearl Riddick who entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Celebration of Life services will commence on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 beginning at 1:00pm at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. A walk-through viewing will take place on Monday, October 2, 2023 at the funeral home from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Pearl attended school in the Edenton-Chowan school system. After her
school tenure, she began working as a maintenance and housekeeping supervisor
at Elizabeth City State University where she remained until she retired. After her
retirement, she worked as a guest services representative at Sentara Albemarle
Medical Center until her health began to fail. She was a faithful member of
Lamb’s Grove Baptist Church. Pearl had a knack for finding the perfect bargain,
and she could shop until she dropped with the best of them. Her friends and
family would often joke that she could spot a deal from a mile away. She was an
avid gardener and loved all types of plants. Amidst her shopping sprees and
gardening, Pearl always made time for her family and friends, spreading love and
kindness wherever she went.
Pearl’s journey was filled with love and laughter, and she leaves behind a
trail of joy for her surviving loved ones; her husband, Arthur “Bill” Riddick, who
stood by her side through thick and thin, two daughters, T’Sha Riddick and Kita
Riddick both of Elizabeth City, NC, who inherited their mother’s zest for life, two
sisters; Debra Griffin (Edgar) of Elizabeth City, NC and Elector Hurdle of Tyner, NC,
five grandchildren; Tshera Saunders, Jaloni Butts, Jamel Butts, Tyrique Riddick,
and Jamoni Butts, three sisters-in-law, Leora Burgess, Gwenda Griffin, and Ida
Walker (Arbelvia), two brothers-in-law, Travis Griffin and Larry Parks, a loving god-
daughter Jennetta Williams, special friends Mary (Sister) Griffin and Louise
Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
As we bid farewell to our beloved Pearl, let us remember her with a smile.
She may have left the stage, but her spirit will forever dance in our hearts. Rest in
peace, dear Pearl, and keep shining your light from above. You’ve truly left a
legacy that will never fade away.
