James Elwood Everett, Sr.

January 27, 1946 ~ February 25, 2021 (age 75) 75 Years Old

James Everett, Sr. Obituary

When peace, like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my lot. thou hast taught me to say, it is well, it is well, with my soul."

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. James Elwood Everett, Sr. who entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 26, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Celebration of Life Services will take place on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Alvin M. Griffin Chapel at Adkins Memorial Funeral Home. Covid-19 Restrictions will be in effect and no one will be able to enter service without a mask.

James was proceeded in death by his parents Henry and Betty Baum Everett, two sisters; Mary Everett Harvey, and Mable Everett Burke, one brother; William Melton Everett SR, his son James E. Everett Jr, three uncles Eugene Everett, Warren Everett andLinwood Everett and one aunt Pearl Downing. 

James leaves to cherish his beloved wife , Rena Skinner Everett of Elizabeth City , NC, four daughters;Selina Mercer (Collis), Mary Bynum (Darrell), Yulanda Williams (Travounce) of Elizabeth City, NC, Jamie Everett of Greenville, NC, and one son; Leroy Everett of Greenville, NC, six step-children; Carla Jones, Otis Jones, Dion Daniels, Shambria Wilson, Davon Skinner, and Laquan Skinner,  three brothers; Josephs Everett (Phyllis) of Winston Salem, Henry Everett (Carolyn) of Portsmouth, VA, Warren Everett of Hertford,  NC, Aubrey Everett of Elizabeth City, NC, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.  

James endured many years of illness without complaining.  He was selfless and cared more about how others were feeling.  James had many friends and family members and he enjoyed going to cookouts, family reunions, and family outings.  James was a man of many talents and he was very good with his hands.  He liked to fix cars and always tried to keep himself busy.  Work was something that he never would give up until the end.
