It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved James Elijah Adkins, Jr., affectionately known as “Jimmy” who entered into eternal rest in New Carrollton, Maryland on Monday, November 13, 2023.
Celebration of Life services will commence on Monday, November 20, 2023 beginning at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Dr. Ricky L. Banks officiating and Pastor Wanda Adkins delivering tithe Eulogy. A viewing and visitation will take place on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. He will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Adkins, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Adkins; two brothers Rev. William E. Adkins, Sr. and Rev. Larry D. Adkins; and a devoted friend Alexander “Wolfe” Williams, Jr.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his loving memories; his sisters, Joan A. Winslow of Elizabeth City, NC; Sandra C. Adkins of Somerset, NJ; Gwendolyn J. Adkins of Elizabeth City, NC; Lynette A. Dillard of Raleigh NC; Deirdre A. Adkins of Charlotte, NC; Gail A. Whitehurst of Elizabeth City, NC; Karen Adkins of Queens, NY; Sister-in-laws, Rev. Wanda Adkins of Chesapeake, VA and Shirley Jeffries of Wake Forest, NC; Cousin, Derrek Williams of Chesapeake, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
