Deacon Leamond Carver Obituary

“Though the clouds may hang over, there will be a brighter day.  In that land they call heaven, God shall wipe all tears away. We shall behold the lamb of God, sitting on the throne. There will be no more crying, no more weeping, troubles will be gone. Hallelujah, there will be joy forever more, when we reach that other shore.”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Leamond Carver who entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 30, 2022 at the Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted on Saturday, June 4, 2022 beginning at 12:00pm at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. A Walk-Through Viewing will take place on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 4:00pm-5:00pm at the funeral home.

The Obituary

Leamond Carver was born on May 19th, 1923, and returned home to the Lord on May 30th,
2022. He was born to Daniel Andrew and Lucy Moore Carver in the Newland Township of
Elizabeth City, NC.
Leamond was educated in the Newland Township of Elizabeth City, NC. He was employed with
the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA for 35 years as a rigger in Shop 72. After his
retirement in 1982, he started working as a carpenter in the Newland Township. He was also
a veteran of the United States Army.
Leamond gave his life to the Lord at an early age and was an integral part of Mount Carmel
Missionary Baptist Church, where he was appointed as a Deacon in 1974 due to his diligent
work for the Lord and his church.
Leamond was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nicola Moore Carver, and his children:
Venzola Carver, Cleophus Carver (Mavis), Ronnie Carver (Terri), Selma Liverman (Joshua), Leon
Carver (Martha Celestine), Lucy Sims (Charlie Ray, deceased). Preceding him in death were
siblings George, James, Maxine, Linwood, Cordella, as well as great-grandchildren Chris
Carver, Maya Alexander, and Troyvon “Turk” Eason, and great-great granddaughter Monique
Williams.
Left to continue his legacy are his children Nicola Bernice Eason (Wagus, deceased), Myrell
“Theresa” Sessoms (Paris Sr.), Melvin Carver, Rita Banks (Wilbert), Lester Arnold “LA” Carver
(Vicki), Lee “Kent” Carver, Bradford Carver (Faye), Bernadette Griffin (Dempsey), Darryl Carver
(Cassandra) and his brother-in-law Glenn Moore (Jannie) and sister-in-law Rubenia Alexander
(Richard).
Also, to cherish his memory are 43 grandchildren, 107 great-grandchildren, 72 great-great
grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones.
Leamond was well known in the community and loved by all. His motto was, “Love one
another, do good by one another, and help one another.”
