It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Carlson Washington Hurdle who entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Celebration of Life Services will take place on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 beginning at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. A walk-through viewing will take place on Monday June 20, 2022 at the funeral home from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

Carlson Washington Hurdle was born to the late George Washington Hurdle and Ella Whidbee Hurdle on June 2, 1934, in Perquimans County, North Carolina. He met and married Shirley M. Rountree Hurdle and resided in Hertford NC where they decided to raise their family. Together they had 4 children. He worked as an orderly at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, NC for many years until his retirement. He studied music and was a self-taught pianist who brought the sound of Gospel music and hymnals to several churches in the area.
He was pre-deceased by his wife: Shirley M. Rountree Hurdle, brothers Jack Hurdle, twin brother Carlton Hurdle, Arthur "Butch" Turner and sister Alverta Hurdle Pickett.
He is survived by his Four children: Bryant K. Rountree, Carlson L. Hurdle of Hertford, NC, Linda V. Hurdle, Corliss T. Hurdle King (Philip) of Plainfield, NJ, Seven Grandchildren: De'mon Jennings, Demardra Jennings, Jason Overtin, Mondril Hicks, Curtis D. Hurdle, Aliyah King, Alycia King (Duane). Five Great grandchildren: Nia King-Stephens, Akeelah King-Stephens, Amina Humphries, Ayden Humphries and Jada Kinnon and host of In-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
