It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Byron Brown of Elizabeth City, North Carolina who entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Sentara Albemarle Medical Center.

Celebration of Life Services will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. A viewing and visitation will take place on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Adkins Memorial Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, no persons attending the viewing will be permitted without a mask. Social distancing measures will also be in effect at the funeral home and church. The family wishes to thank everyone for their willingness to adhere to these guidelines in advance.

Byron attended Northeastern High School and graduated with the class of 1989. Byron began working at an early age and was employed at The City Beverage Company as he continues employment with Waste Industries then to Department of Transportation. He became a member at Union Chapel at a very young age. He was employed at The City of Elizabeth City until his health started to decline. Byron enjoyed and loved his family` and looked forward to his favorite time of the year and that was “Hunting Season” he loved his hunting dogs with a passion. He was a true sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Byron leaves to cherish his son J’Quay James and his mother Yolanda Brown of Elizabeth City, NC, one grandson J’Quan James of Elizabeth City, NC, his father Raymond Brown Sr. of Elizabeth City, NC, one sister Roselyn B. Moore of Elizabeth City, NC three brothers Raymond Brown Jr. (Donna) of Elizabeth City, NC, Wayne Brown of Elizabeth City, NC, James Trafton, of Salisbury Md. A special niece Rakena Brown (god daughter) of Elizabeth City, NC, Jamie Trafton of Salisbury Md, and Shameika Martin of Elizabeth City, NC, a special nephew Rashad Moore of Elizabeth City NC, Jovan Brown of Miami FL, Jorell Brown of Elizabeth City, NC and Jamail Brown of Elizabeth City, NC, a special friend Nellie Richardson of Elizabeth City, NC and her daughters Christina and Obie Richardson of Elizabeth City, NC, and a host of cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Lousie D. Brown, his grandmother Katie Brown, and his grandfather James Brown.
